"Heaven Shall Burn?When We Are Gathered" is the fourth album (not including the numerous EPs the bands has released) by Swedish Black Metal-giants MARDUK, and also the first album featuring Legion on vocals and Fredrik Andersson on drums. The Swedish outfit is known for it's straightforward no-remorse type of Black Metal, crushing all the weak on it's path of destruction. And this album is no exception to that rule? it's considered by many fans to be among their very best records, and not for a bad reason. The production is good, and its rawness fits the atmosphere of the music! This album is a relentless dose of black metal heresy. The songs are intricately composed, then topped with frenzied blast beats. The songs have more emotional diversity than musical variety. Marduk displays a range of emotions including anger, frustration, sadness, fear and downright evilness. Legion's vocals are also really strong. This record has the best combination of memorable songs, quality musicianship, catchy riffs and brutality.
