oddly enough, Martin Van Drunen's debut with Pestilence souunds uncannily similar to Brett Hoffman's debut on Malevolent Creation's first album The Ten Commandments ; both albums capture the youthful , unbridled thrash/death metal ferocity of the late 80's. It's a relentless assault from start to finish . Pestilence would later move on to finesse their songwriting with jazz influences and tech-death but this album exemplifies their power to write heavy , straightfoward thrashy death metal . A must own album for all die hard fans who closely followed the genre since its inception.
