Northwinds are a very nice counterpart to other Progressive Metal bands such as DREAM THEATER, PAIN OF SALVATION, and FATES WARNING because they find their roots in an unfamiliar genre to most (Doom Metal) and rather than amazing with the usual technical ability, time changes, and complex arrangements (not that they are lacking these qualities) they take the listener into a landscape of sound all their own that have been never heard before. NORTHWINDS is one of the only (if not the only) Doom Metal bands to ever fully exhibit progressive elements. They are an extremely imaginative band that deserve all the attention they can get.
