Making a follow-up to an awesome record such as Wicca is not an easy task, but Mystifier managed to create something that could stand up against its highly predecessor. Goetia is a true masterpiace of evil Southern American metal. Combining well-balanced portions of black metal, death metal and even doom metal here and there (5%), this album creates an unbelievable intense occult atmosphere. Compared to their later releases the shouter sticks to growls instead of mixing in some clean singing. There are a lot of harsh up-tempo parts interrupted by mid-tempo or even slow parts that finally contribute to the occult feeling (especially when combined with the distorted vocals every now and then). Every single song - no matter whether it is a short one like Beelzebuth or a long one - is outstanding in terms of obscure intensity. Each song has its moments in which you either wanna raise your fist in order to salute to the (d)evil and confess his (its) existence or you wanna do some neck-breaking moshing. This is more than reccomended to all the fans of the golden era of South American extreme music, when Sarcofago, Mutilator and Sepultura ruled the world. Mystifier were great then and are great now. This is more than mandatory.
