CRUSHING OLD-SCHOOL DOOM METAL FROM INDIANA, USA!! Originally released in 2005 and AVAILABLE ON VINYL FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!! A true gem of traditional DOOM METAL from one of the most respected American bands of the genre! Formed in 1998 by guitarist/vocalist KARL SIMON, THE GATES OF SLUMBER built their reputation on a crushing blend of slow, heavy riffs, dark atmospheres and genuine '70s hard rock influences, firmly rooted in the tradition of SAINT VITUS, REVEREND BIZARRE and the classic masters of DOOM! "Like A Plague Upon The Land" captures the band in their early years, delivering a raw, powerful and uncompromising dose of authentic, old-school HEAVY/DOOM METAL! A hard-hitting cult EP that perfectly embodies the band's devotion to the genre's original spirit, with massive guitar riffs, pounding rhythms and an unmistakable vintage sound! Following the band's long history, their disbandment after bassist JASON McCASH's untimely passing in 2014 and their eventual return to action, these early recordings remain an essential chapter in their legacy.
