LE ORME \"Verità nascoste\" [CLEAR YELLOW LP!]
Le Orme’s “Verità nascoste”, released on Philips record label in 1976, is the natural follower to the 1975 “Smogmagica” LP, an album in which the band tried to find their own identity within an ever-changing musical panorama, halfway between the decline of the prog-rock scene and the advent of punk. It is mainly remembered for the songs “Vedi Amsterdam …”, a social protest on drug abuse, and the successful 45rpm “Regina al Troubadour”. This LP also marks the end of the collaboration between the band and their loyal producer Gian Piero Reverberi, as well as guitarist Tolo Martin’s defection, after just one year, replaced by the excellent Germano Serafin. The most noticeable change from the past lies in the keyboards timbre, clearly influenced by new, more ‘synthetic sounds’; but in general the main feature of “Verità nascoste” is a remarkable balance between the band’s prog soul and a still growing pop-rock side. Ultimately, a corageous and a much better release than the previous, a little vague, album Smogmagica, by a band capable of maintaining their own identity even during a strongly changeable period. The beautiful cover artwork, illustrated by the famous Mario Convertino, is faithfully reproduced in this VM reissue, enclosing a limited clear yellow vinyl edition.
