Sludge veterans Negative Reaction have teamed up with newcomers When the Deadbolt Breaks for a split release that proudly showcases all of the elements of a great sludge/doom record. Painfully thick guitar and bass tones, slow and powerful drumming and tortured vocals provide the foundation for both bands' contribution to the release, making it an incredibly appealing listen for fans of Eyehategod, Rwake, Neurosis and the like. And while WTDB may be new to the game, their opening half actually carries most of the split's weight. As WTDB was founded by an ex-member of Pigs Never Fly-era Cable, similarities to the later, more sludge-heavy output of Cable can certainly be heard.
