Another obscure and hard-to-find underground CD from Tokyo's MOSAICS (モザイクス), released in 2021 through SSKL (Shijo Saiaku Kuso Label)! This one packs 12 tracks of raw, energetic Japanese punk: 4 studio recordings plus 8 live cuts captured at Tokyo's legendary Waseda ZONE-B on January 31st, 2021. Musically, think a faster, more frantic version of THE STALIN or the more recent BIRU, mixed with traditional elements of classic 80s Japanese hardcore punk. Primitive, infectious guitar riffs, pounding two-beat drumming, fiercely shouted Japanese vocals and a wonderfully unpolished DIY attitude. The live recordings add an extra dose of urgency, capturing the band's straightforward, no-nonsense approach in its natural environment. No fancy arrangements, no modern gimmicks, just stripped-down, pissed-off Japanese punk with plenty of character and genuine spirit. A cool little piece of Japan's contemporary DIY punk scene, especially recommended to collectors of obscure and old-school Japanese hardcore recordings!
