?Strange Rites? is the debut full-length by US death metal band ABYSME featuring a former member of FUNERUS ? Brad Heiple.The album consists of 10 crushing death metal tracks with varying tempos in the vein of such Swedish bands as Dismember and Entombed mixed with some U.S. Death metal influcences of Incantation and Immolation. In all, Abysme seem to know what sound they want, and stick with it all the way through. Dark, moody, and overall doom laden this album is a perfect precursor for what just may be the beginning of an underground band's rise to infamy.
