Sweden?s Trial are no doubt grabbing the attention of the Progressive Heavy Metal world with this amazing release. Sweden has always had some of the best musicians and singers in the world and when they get together it?s always going to give true music fans something to look forward to. Trial is a bit ironic of a band name for the simple reason everything is working very well here. They can be put in the Progressive category for sure, part Power Metal with some Trash tendencies as well. Singer Linus Johannson has a range that it just insane. There?s a big of King Diamond in the voice, but his style is more accessible and less devoted to theatre and dramatic interpretations. There?s some early Crimson Glory in their sound as well, but having said that, they don?t sound like any other band either. The songwriting is boombastic, dark, creepy but full of fresh air. This is a perfect mix of progressive metal, classic doom in the vein of Candlemass, avant-garde thrash metal in the vein of Voivod and early Mercyful Fate. A new classic!
