As death metal became more death metal and less thrash metal, bands like Incubus, Solstice, and Num Skull were popping up all over the world playing a fusion of death metal and thrash metal. Of these deathrash bands was Infected, a band from Switzerland whose discography consists of their 1989 debut album only. Featuring Messiah (Che)'s 'Choir of Horrors'-era drummer, Infected's one and only release promised to be well worth hunting down. It turns out 'Dark Century' was/is a ripping gem of a death/thrash album. The combination of styles works flawlessly, riding the fence somewhere between thrash and death metal with heavy riffing and a dark, cavernous atmosphere.
