Thornium was one of the original black metal bands from Sweden, forming in 1993, along with genre institution Marduk. They released a demo and an album (on legendary defunct label Necromantic Gallery Productions) before going on hiatus from 1995 to 2007. This is their classic opus "Dominions of the eclipse", originally released in 195. There’s the shadow of Satyricon’s debut “Dark Medieval Times” that looms over a lot of this material, while the rest is imbued wih the spirit of early Darkthrone. The tempo is mostly midpaced with well-placed blast sections. The light keyboard and acoustic passages are tastefully done and remain wholly unobtrusive. An awesome record for fans of Satyricon, Gorgoroth and Burzum.
