Striborg is a real weird nut to crack - on one hand, there's a ton of amateurish material, played sloppily. But, on the other is an interesting, passionately delivered, uniquely sounding black metal. In the Heart of the Rainforest, one of Striborg's earlier offerings, toes this line the entirety of its playtime. Sin Nanna has crafted something worthy of praise in a lot of regards - first being the atmosphere does somehow seem humid, wet and rainy - far from the northern winds that howl through most black metal. The second is his penchant for very bizarre moments, like random noise bits as an intro, an entire song goes by without any drum fills, keyboards are played as an afterthought, his vocals buried deep within the mix. These choices, whether intentional or on accident, often give Striborg a unique, if kind of terrible, sound at times.
